Biostadt Group representatives visit the garden cultivating key crops in Vietnam's agricultural export turnover

On November 19, 2024, the Biostadt delegation visited the gardens where crops are grown effectively, contributing a large proportion to Vietnam's agricultural export turnover in 2024, to find solutions to bring profits to farmers and reduce production costs in the face of fluctuations in the export situation as well as seasonal weather.

The first destination of the delegation was to visit the garden coconut’ Malaysia growing in Cho Gao, Tien Giang province - a tree that has just been added to the list of trees exported to the billion-people market.

Here, the garden owner shared: due to the flexibility of quickly converting the crop structure, the family's income has improved while waiting for the off-season dragon fruit lighting season to catch up with the price.

However, the difficulty for coconut growers today is that traders set the standard for harvesting coconuts from 45 days old, leading to the situation where coconut trees have to anchor their fruits for too long, leading to the situation decrease coconut trees yield every year.

With this information, the delegation will propose solutions to support gardeners to cultivate more optimally in the near future.

Mr. Huzefa - representative from Biostadt Group also learned more about Vietnam's practice of using lights to handle the off-season in the process of flowering dragon fruit trees. It can be said that this is a crop that has helped many people in this raw material area escape poverty, but it is currently also heavily dependent on the export market through neighboring countries.

People here often joke with each other, "In the past, we had to eat and bear with it, so now we also try to stick with it day by day to catch the right price". Understanding the concerns of the people of the dragon fruit region, the Delegation will also record information to find a farming solution to "Minimize production costs" for the people in the face of this fluctuation.

The final stop of the delegation is a crop that can be said to be a "hot trend" of Vietnamese Agriculture and is also an agricultural product that is on par with neighboring Thailand in terms of quality and cultivation process - a country that has made its mark with the Monthong durian variety that has been registered as a trademark.

If "friend" Thailand has the Mongthon durian variety with a rich, milky yellow color, then Vietnam has the Ri6 durian variety with the characteristic of golden yellow flesh and a sweet taste, which is also being prioritized for import by the billion-people market because it suits the tastes of the people here.
